If I had to list the things I missed most about living in the US it would probably go something like this...
1. Fresh Boston lobster from Adams Fairacre farms to make lobster pot pie
Yes, I know, lavish for a college student to have lobster pot pie appear regularly at my dinner table, but we had my part time job with the international studies department to thank for keeping that level of fabulousness when it came to food.
2. Internet that moved at the speed of light. Surely this needs no explaining.
3. Being able to jump on the MetroNorth and get into NYC in half a heartbeat for dinner, the weekend, shopping at sample sales or visiting the museums.
4. Subscriptions to insanely awesome magazines that arrived at my doorstep without me having to move my butt off the couch
Which is why I'm just so darn excited about AllScript and it's FREE SHIPPING IN SINGAPORE.
You see, the thing about good 'zine shops is that they all have a mastermind behind the buying who knows how to curate content and bring in only the freshest and most interesting content. And I unabashedly love the brains behind this new old fashioned print house. They bring in the best titles, house them online and in stores, and as I said, SHIP FOR FREE IN SINGAPORE. It doesn't hurt that their website is very easy on the eyes.
P probably won't be too happy that I just went on a 30-magazine-spree of titles like CherryBombe, The Gentlewoman, Fete, Kinfolk, Hello May, White, Elle Decor, Real Living and more.... But as Seuss famously said,
The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.
And I'd very much like to go places, even if it's just getting lost between the pages of a good magazine. Now if only they offered same-day shipping, I'd have something to keep me occupied while doing the laundry tonight.
