I thought I'd stick to something light and bright for a Friday - when it comes to decorating and doing things up sometimes going for the not-so-mellow shades of yellow is the bolder and better way to roll.
There's a lot out there on how the colour of your room affects your mood, and for the most part I do think it's true - blues are calming, reds raise energy levels, and yellows are cheerful and bright. My little sister's seating area is painted a really cheery shade of yellow, complete with fresh spring green and pretty blue throw pillows.
It's an absolutely lovely environment in which to sit and read and while away an entire afternoon. In fact, I'm cozied up on the arm chair opposite the last image above while I write this. I've got my pup for company, a warm cup of honey+lemon for my scratchy throat, and a great read on UnMarketing by Scott Stratten to keep me occupied.
Of course, a good decorator will tell you to avoid using such bright and bold shades in your immediate sleeping area as the colour can get a little glaring and cause fatigue. So if you're going to use it in your bedroom, make sure there's a bit of a divide between the sitting and sleeping areas so you're guaranteed a good night's rest.
